o.p.p. – stenciled wicker baskets

i love a good monogram, but the question is – ‘how do you mark your territory?’

wooden wall art
metal plaque
fabric & thread
-many options, many looks-

the simple stencil is a look, i like.

o.p.p. – découpaged light (plus a good book)

a good little light can make a BIG difference in any room. for example, we have a 3 bulb chandelier in our bedroom… it’s nothing special and recently we just switched the bulbs out.  Australia is on the energy efficiency wagon (which i am 100% for) though that means that most new light bulbs take about 30 seconds to get to desired brightness.  so, now – not only do we have a blah fixture, but we also have a room where it’s similar to a shower… you can’t go in right away (room=too dark/shower=too cold).

ok, so to you regular readers, it’s not much of a surprise that i love looking through the pages of country living for some vintage & earthy inspired crafts. so, keeping with the light theme of today’s broadcast – i bring you another c.l. favorite!

you can also pick up the book where this project originally hails from – Rediscovered Treasures by Ellen Dyrop & Hanna Kristinsdottir – it’s all about rediscovering & repurposing old vintage wares –  i just ordered my copy – only $9.99 from amazon!

o.p.p. – paint chip garland

this year try your hand at making some easter eggs not intended for hiding…

i’m not a mom, nor do i typically decorate my home for the holidays (exception: christmas + in the fall i do love a good ‘harvesty’ feel full of pumpkin scents), BUT if i did – this project would be right up my alley… and hopefully it is up at least one of yours.

it’s cheap, creative & perfect for the holiday where pastels and eggs reign.

o.p.p. – rake hooks (and bonus project)

does your garage or shed need a good clean?! turn yesterday’s tools into today’s decor.

if you enjoy a small bit of the country vibe in your home – this easy to do project is a creative way to bring a bit of the outdoors to the inside.

it’s a one supply project: an old rake head.

hang: jewelry, towels, aprons, uncut candles – whatever your heart desires.

bonus project: keeping the same idea in mind – head out to your local antique shop and scope out some vintage kitchenware.  i recently picked up this vintage baking tray with rounded muffin holes. It makes for a great tealight holder and also adds just the right touch of rustic feel to our living room.

happy crafting.

o.p.p. – party straws

well, i’m back from a blog vacation… it’s been a couple busy weeks (actually year) – but the autumn is here in Australia and the weeks are finally slowing down.

this weekend i hosted a bachelorette party for a dear friend + fellow American that too happens to live down under.  in fact, there is quite a little crew of us ‘yanks’ (as the Aussies call us) here and this weekend a mixture of Chicagoans, San Franciscans & a San Diegoan flew over from Sydney for the celebratory weekend.

the weekend was perfect, but now seeing these cute little craftzine party straws – i wish i could have made something so crafty, yet practical for the festivities.

print out the pdf and whip up some of these for your next event.
