o.p.p. – decorative tape

in the past few years, i’ve become really infatuated with giving a really pretty gift. rather than expensive gift wrap and impersonal cards, i do this with kraft paper and recycled tags, markers & more. in fact, my key wrapping components for christmas were these cute little tags made out of recycled books & buttons.

with that… when i saw this great idea for unique & handmade tape it got me pretty darn excited.  not only is the tape a perfect wrapping component for any handmade lover, but the wooden thread spools make this a great accessory for your craft room or a gift for a handy friend.

o.p.p. – baked sweet potato fries

so… in preparation for the big day (+ a much needed detox after 5 weeks of mexican, pizza, fried food, donuts & countless margaritas) i’ve gone healthy. yes… i’m stating it here on the blog so it’s for all to see – which will help me w/ followthrough, as everyone knows – i need it (i love food!).

i recently stumbled upon paula deen’s yummy recipe for sweet potato fries – and after reading some articles on how they are not only low in calories, but also help prevent cancer — I was sold.

i made my first batch two days ago and i must say that the prep and cooking was quite painless. just about 25 mins – and voila… a really tasty recipe!

have a stab at it w/ this recipe from the queen of southern cooking.

315 days…

the new year actually started 50 days ago, but for for howd.i.y. – i’m officially kicking it off today (yeah, I know I’ve already done a post in 2012…)

so, what’s been filling my time these past weeks?

after leaving my job at universal music, i jetted off to the US to spend a month visiting friends & family and planning our upcoming wedding (which has been a dream for this handmade & antique lover!). the trip was amazing and well balanced (compared to the norm of cramming everything in). this past week – we landed back in australia, got settled in at home and I started my new job (which I couldn’t be more excited about).

i’ve got a good feeling about 2012 – and I can’t wait to ‘see’ (hence the pic) & share all that’s in store…
